I see a good deal on craigslist for a marineland magnum 350. It says good for up to 100 gallons, I was wondering how good of filtration I am getting in a 100 gallon tank? The filters rated at 350 gph. Does that provide enough current so I wont need a powerhead?

Re: How much filtration?
No it wont. 350 gph on a 100 gallon tank is only around 3 times turn over. I have had a few of those mag 350 and dont really care for them but if it is cheap you might as well pick it up. Maybe run that and a AC 500 and that will be around 8 times turn over and that would work.

How about a fluval fx5? I dont really want to have to use multiple filters or put a powerhead in the tank. Keeps it nice and simple.
